Mary Ann Hayward Wins 2013 Quebec Women’s Mid-Amateur

Hudson, QC – Mary Ann Hayward earned her fourth Quebec Women’s Mid-Amateur title on Friday at Whitlock Golf and Country Club in Hudson, Quebec.
Hayward, who is a member of the Canadian, Ontario and Quebec Golf Hall of Fame, is also a lifetime member at Whitlock. The Aurora resident led the Mid-Amateur competition through both rounds, carding a 76 on Thursday and closing out the event with a 77 Friday to finish with a total score of 153, nine-over par.
Ottawa resident Susan Pearl, a member at Rideau View Golf Club, finished in second place with a total score of 156 (78-78, +12) while 2012 champion Helene Chartrand finished in third place at 157 (82-75,+13).
Hayward’s victory is her fourth Quebec Mid-Amateur title; she previously won in 2005, 2008 and 2010. She is also a fourteen-time champion of the Ontario Women’s Mid-Amateur, and the championship trophy is named in her honour.
Hayward will next play in the PGA Women’s Championship of Canada at her Ontario home club, The Club at North Halton July 2-4, before defending her Ontario Senior Women’s title at Stratford Country Club at the end of July. She will also be in the hunt for her third Canadian Senior Women’s title at the Royale Cup Canadian Senior Women’s championship hosted by Morningstar Golf Club in BC at the end of August.
