Jenna Hague Finishes Runner-Up at Western Women’s Amateur

June 23, 2013

Dayton, OH: Despite a threat of rainstorms during the second 18-hole round, Jenna Hague of Burlington finished runner-up to Ashlan Ramsey of Milledgeville, Georgia by a score of 7 & 6 in the 36-hole final of the Women’s Western Golf Association’s 113th National Amateur Championship at Dayton Country Club in Dayton, Ohio.

Hague was disappointed in her play in the final but she was happy to have played so well in her four previous matched on route to the final. She plans to build off this performance as she gets ready for a competitive summer schedule before she returns to school in August. A junior at Ball State University she has won the Mid America Conference Championship for the last two years and was an Academic All American this past season.

Fellow Ontarian Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, was the Medalist in the two day qualifying rounds with a score of 138 on the par 71, 5,948 yard course. She was also part of Team Canada who captured the Maschmeyer Cup that awarded to the four players from the same state or foreign country with the lowest combined gross score from the 36-hole round. Henderson’s teammates included Augusta, James of Bath, Brittany Marchand of Mono and Christine Wong of Richmond, BC.

This annual event draws some of the best female amateurs around from the world. Past Champions include Stacy Lewis, Brittany Lang, Grace Park, Beth Park, Nancy Lopez, and Louise Suggs to name a few. The WWGA 114th National Amateur Championship will be played at Lancaster Country Club, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, June 23-28, 2014.
