Uxbridge, ON – With fall golf season now upon us, Golf Ontario is excited to welcome the 2021 Ontario Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship to Taboo Muskoka from September 28th to 30th. As championship season is nearly approaching a close, we would like to thank all players, spectators, and volunteers for respecting and continuing to adhere to the COVID-19 protocols.
After kicking off our 2021 season at Taboo Muskoka in June, we are extremely pleased to be back to the course that will offer competitors a challenging layout carved into the dramatic Canadian Shield landscape. Consistently voted among Canada’s Top 100 courses and renowned for its panoramic beauty, the Taboo golf course is a captivating gateway to Muskoka, one of Canada’s truly outstanding golf destinations. Managing Director, Nigel Hollidge, shared that due to the rain “the course might play a little longer. However, it’ll be a great test of golf that everyone will enjoy.” We greatly appreciate Taboo’s continued support of Golf Ontario championships and look forward to experiencing the picturesque course over the three-day championship.
The Ontario Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship will consist of athletes from the following eight qualifiers: Woodington Lake Golf Club (July 19, 2021), Rebel Creek Golf Club (July 20, 2021), Otter Creek Golf Club (July 21, 2021), Rosedale Golf Club (July 26, 2021), Donalda Club (August 9, 2021), Cataraqui Golf & Country Club (August 19, 2021), Lively Golf Club (August 28, 2021), and Essex Golf & Country Club (August 30, 2021).
Players to watch for include the 2020 Men’s Mid-Amateur Champion Ryan Tsang (Cedar Brae GC), 2020 silver medallists Charles Fitzsimmons (Thornhill Club) and David Lang (Donalda Club), and the always dangerous three-time winner of this championship, Dave Bunker (Cherry Hill Club).
First tee for round one (of three) is set for Tuesday, September 28th at 8:00 a.m. For more information on the championship and to follow the leaderboard, click here to view our Golf Genius tournament page.
