Gravenhurst, ON – Chilly blue skies welcomed back golfers to round two of the 2021 Ontario Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship, at the beautiful Taboo Muskoka. Temperatures rose slightly through the day, as did the wind at times, forcing competitors to work for opportunities to climb the leaderboard on moving day.

Hanging on to the lead once again after 36 holes with a solid one-over par on the day (73) is Brett Mitchell (Galt Country Club). Mitchell started off on fire with three birdies on his first ten holes but unfortunately stumbled down the stretch with four bogeys and a double-bogey. Also sitting alone in second again with a one-over (73) for the day is Jonn Drewery (Westmount G&CC). Climbing the leaderboard ranks with a three-under (69) was both Will Mitchell (Oshawa G&CC) and three-time Men’s Mid-Am Champion Dave Bunker (Cherry Hill Club). Drewery sits even par after two rounds, while Bunker sits at one-over. Low round of the day belongs to Eric Pattenaude (Sarnia G&CC),who recorded a stellar three-under (68) to find himself in fifth place alongside Scott Rutgers (Pointe West GC) and Josh Hunke (Deer Ridge GC).

Golf Ontario will also recognize the Mid-Master (40+) Champion after tomorrow’s final round. For this section, Drewery currently leads the group with a score of -1 with Bunker two strokes back.

Golf Ontario will be making cuts tonight to the low 48 scorers (and anyone tying for 48th place) to continue to play into tomorrow’s third round. The final round of the Ontario Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship will begin at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday morning).
