Tottenham, ON – Following a night of heavy rainfall, competitors took to the stunning Legacy course at Woodington Lake Golf Club for round one of the 3rd annual championship. With just two rounds of competitive play, athletes had to play smart to take advantage of the leaderboard early.
Coming out of the gates strong is both defending champions, Natasha Stasiuk (Heron Point GC) and Kurtis Barkley (Cedar Glen GC). On the women’s side, Stasiuk holds a seven-stroke lead over second place Tess Trojan (Public Player). In third after a tough front nine, is Hamilton G&CC’s Samantha Lemieux.
Over on the Men’s side, Barkley shares the lead with Geoffrey Beecroft (Oshawa G&CC) following a round of 77. Just one-stroke back sits third place holder, Jason Swerdfeger (Public Player), with a six-over day.
A Net Stableford champion for both Men’s and Women’s divisions will be crowned as well. Round one leaderboard shows Jason Swerdfeger in first, with a tie between Geoffrey Beecroft and Gary Bos. Women’s Net Stableford has Tess Trojan in the lead, with Samantha Lemieux in second, and Natasha Stasiuk in third.

About The Ontario Disability Championship
In 2019, Woodington Lake Golf Club hosted the inaugural Ontario Disability Championship. Played over a 36-hole competition for Men and Women, the Ontario Disability Championship is an inclusive event in which athletes with disabilities compete in a provincial championship environment. The championship promotes awareness and participation for golfers with disabilities and provides a platform for future talent identification. The Ontario Disability Championship is a counting event on the World Ranking for Golfers with Disability (WR4GD).
