Uxbridge, ON – From September 15th to the 16th, golfers will take on the timeless links-style course at Tarandowah Golfers Club for the Baka Ontario Public Amateur Championship, presented by Triple Bogey. Competing over 36-holes of championship stroke play, players will be in the hunt for three separate flights of championship titles.
Voted the 40th best public course in Canada, Tarandowah is located in southwestern Ontario and is thrilled to be hosting. “We are excited to host the Ontario Public Amateur Championship this year,” exclaimed Andy Shaw, Director of Operations. “This is one of several championships we are hosting this year, including the Ontario PGA Fall Classic. Our staff has been working hard to prepare the course for these events.” Created by Dr. Martin Hawtree, the firm fairways, wrinkled greens, hidden bunkers, and devilish winds will present a challenging stage for the field of 80. “The course is currently playing firm and fast with 106 deep pot bunkers strategically placed throughout the course. Tall fescue and rolling fairways put a premium on accuracy off the tee. The greens are fast and true with several challenging pin placements. Rarely, a calm day at Tarandowah, so the wind is a key factor on several holes. Unlike parkland golf courses, links-style requires different shot making skills that are not normally played on regular courses.”
Open only to players of the Golf Ontario Public Player Program and members of a semi-public golf course, the championship will see players compete in three separate flights. Players in the A flight will compete in a gross competition, while the B and C flights will compete in a net competition. Players in the B flight will also be eligible for the overall A flight, as they play off the same tees.

About The Baka Public Amateur Championship
The Baka Public Amateur Championship was first played in 1958 at Don Valley Golf Club. Past winners include: Ken Trowbridge (1970), 2018 Ontario Golf Hall of Fame inductee Dave Bunker (2009, 2010) and Craig Loughry who has won a record four times (1997, 2001, 2005, 2006). Play of the tournament was suspended from 1984-1995. Mill Run Golf and Country Club (Uxbridge, ON) has hosted the tournament a record 9 times.
The Baka Public Amateur Championship provides the perfect opportunity for those interested in trying a competitive tournament while providing gross and net flights. This allows higher handicap players to play against players in their handicap grouping.

Uxbridge, ON – With championship action still in full swing, Loyalist Country Club will welcome the Ontario Senior Men’s Championship to Bath from September 14th to 16th. Contested over 54-holes of championship stroke play, competitors aged 55 and older will compete for the 2021 provincial title.
Having hosted the Ontario Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship in 2020, Loyalist Country Club is very excited to host the 2021 Ontario Senior Men’s Championship. “This championship joins a long line of past provincial championships we have held over the last few years,” expressed PGA of Canada and Assistant Professional, Austin James. “We are more than looking forward to making this event just as much of a success as the others. This event has some great players this year and we are happy to put them to the test at Loyalist.” Taking on the beautiful Ted Baker design, players can expect great course conditions. “The greens are running at a solid pace and the rough can prove to be difficult. Our grounds crew has worked tirelessly throughout the year to have the fairways nice and green, and the putting surfaces receptive. The rough between now and championship day will likely be grown out to provide even more of a challenge and the course should be firmer, while still fair.”
The 2021 Ontario Senior Men’s Championship will see athletes from the following qualifiers in attendance: Upper Canada Golf Course, Deerhurst Highlands Golf Course, Saugeen Golf Club, Lively Golf Club, Silver Lakes Golf & Country Club, and Port Colborne Country Club. For leaderboard information on qualifiers, click the golf course name. The championship will see an Ontario Senior Men’s Champion crowned, as well as a champion for the age 65 and over, and age 70 and over divisions.
Returning to defend his title is nine-time Golf Ontario champion, Dave Bunker (Cherry Hill Club), who is fresh off a stellar performance at the US Senior Amateur. Additional players to keep an eye on include 2020 runner-up Ashley Chinner (Coppinwood GC), 2019 champion David Greenaway (Barrie CC), and other past champions like Mark Brewer (Whitevale GC), John Murphy (Heritage Hills GC), Christopher Kertsos (Public Player), and Larry Cooper (Mississauga G&CC).

Conducted since 1936, the Ontario Senior Men’s Championship event features Ontario’s best male amateur golfers aged 55 and over, competing over 54 holes of stroke play competition.
Canadian and Ontario Golf Hall of Fame member Nick Weslock, one of Canada’s greatest amateurs of the century, won the event a record 11 times between 1968 and 1980. Other notable past champions include Stu Hamilton (2001, 2006), Mike Jackson (2010, 2011 and 2013) and Ontario Golf Hall of Fame member Warren Sye in 2012.

Uxbridge, ON – With the continued support of Woodington Lake Golf Club, we prepare to welcome the 2021 Ontario Disability Championship to the beautiful Legacy Course from September 15h to 16th. Celebrating its third year running, this championship showcases some of the top athletes with disabilities from near and far, to ensure an inclusive pathway and better competition opportunity for the highest performing disabled athletes. Promoting awareness and participation for golfers with disabilities in a competitive provincial championship environment, the Ontario Disability provides a platform for future talent identification with the championship counting towards World Ranking for Golfers with Disability (WR4GD) points.
The gorgeous course located in Tottenham is “thrilled to have the Ontario Disability Championship back for its third year,” expressed Scott Loosley, Head Golf Professional of Woodington Lake Golf Club. “The course conditions are fast and firm right now and everything is in really good shape, as we’ve been lucky to have great weather conditions the past couple of weeks.” Competing on the Legacy Course, players can anticipate a true mix of Links and Stadium styles, with wide open fairways and several water hazards that add to the challenge of large undulating greens. “We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the Legacy Course next week!”
Contested over 36-holes of championship stroke play, Men and Women will battle for respective titles across four open divisions: Men’s Gross Champion, Women’s Gross Champion, Men’s Net Champion, and Women’s Net Champion. The championship is open to competitors of all ages and will requires participants to have an Official Handicap Index Limit of 28 for Men and 36 for Women.
Returning in 2021 to defend their crown is both 2019 and 2020 champions, Kurtis Barkley (Public Player) and Natasha Stasiuk (Heron Point Golf Links). 2020 Net Men’s and Women’s champions, Gary Bos (Public Player) and Tess Trojan (Public Player), will also be in attendance in the hunt for another shot at the title.
Action from the Woodington Lake GC begins on September 14th, with a practice round set to start at 9:00 a.m.. Fenwick, ON – The final round of the Ontario Peewee (U13) Championship was a hot one, as the young competitors lit up the course to shoot low and attempted to break free fromthe tight leaderboard. Emerging as the 7th annual Ontario Peewee Champions following stellar two rounds of golf, is Shauna Liu (Station Creek GC) and Andy Dai (Station Creek GC).
Holding off the pack with rounds of 69 and 67, Liu maintains the lead to claim the Peewee (U13) Girls’ title. Liu’s two-stroke lead in the final round gave her a championship total of six-under (136), following ten birdies over the two days of competition. Taking home silver medals in a tie for second at four-under is Alexis Card (Galt Country Club) and Celina Yeo (Public Player). The 2021 Drive, Chip and Putt Champion, Alexis Card, shot a whopping seven birdies in today’s round to give her the low round of the championship at 65. Yeo also had an excellent round, firing her lowest round of 67.
Following a silver medalist finish in 2020, Liu said it “feels really good” to win the 2021 title. “On the first day, I made a lot of long putts. Today my second shot was sticking, so that helped a lot.” Typically playing longer courses, Liu explained that she “made a lot of 30-to-40-yard chips. This year I’ve been practicing a lot of 90/100 yards instead, so I really hard to work on my shorter chips this past week.” Liu would like to thank her coach and parents for their support.
Over on the Peewee (U13) Boys’ side, Dai held strong to claim the crown with a five-under total. Dai’s two-stroke lead came from rounds of 70 and 67, for a low championship total of 137. Runner-up to claim the silver medal, is Manav Bharani (Brampton GC Ltd.), who shot an excellent 66 to end his championship with three-under. Vasili Gianakas (The National GC of Canada) came out of the four-way tie for third in yesterday’s round, to secure the bronze medallist position with a total of 141 over 36-holes.
Speaking with Dai following the win, he said “I feel very happy and very proud of myself for winning because this is a very big tournament for me. Winning it feels very good.” Throughout the championship, Dai believes that the strongest part of his game was his putting. “I made about 90% of my four-footers and about 70% of my ten-footers. My approach shots were a bit rusty on the first day, but I got it back the second day.” Dai is appreciative of the support from his dad, adding “my dad always helps me improve”. Other shoutouts go to friends and his coach, for his patience to help him make quick fixes to his game.

Fenwick, ON – The summer heat drags on as the 7th annual Ontario Peewee (U13) Championship gets underway at Sawmill Golf Course. With only 36-holes of competition, the boys and girls had to play smart in order to take advantage of the leaderboard in round one.
Leading the pack on the girls’ side with a clean round of two-under, is Shauna Liu of Station Creek. With four birdies to give her a solid 69 heading into the final round tomorrow, Liu has a two-stroke lead over second place competitors, Celina Yeo (Public Player) and Nobelle Park (Hidden Lake GC), who both shot an even-par of 71.
Over on the boys’ side, Andy Dai (Station Creek GC) has the lead at one-under after a round of 70. Following closely just one stroke back is Brayden Card (Galt Country Club), who has a group of T3 players looking to make a move in the final round. Firing 73 to land in a four-way tie for third, is Ben Julie (Sawmill GC), Vasili Gianakas (The National GC of Canada), Manav Bharani (Brampton GC Ltd), and Dawson Lew (Markham).
The leaderboards are tight for both divisions, which could make for a real nail-biter in the final round tomorrow. Due to poor internet connection in Fenwick, video coverage will be added to Golf Ontario’s social feeds following the end of the round. The final round begins at 8:00 a.m., with the girls starting play off and the boys teeing it up at 9:30 a.m.. Make sure to follow along with the leaderboard on our Golf Genius page, as live scoring will be provided for the three leader groups in each division and the crown could be anyone’s for the taking.

Uxbridge, ON – Golf Ontario’s next provincial championship will host the youngest of the aspiring golfers in Ontario. As we head down to wine country from August 30th to 31st, Sawmill Golf Course is thrilled to be hosting the 7th annual Ontario Peewee (U13) Boys’ and Girls’ Championship.
The beautiful course located on the roots of an old dairy farm is characterized by gently rolling hills, deciduous forests, and two meandering creeks. Designed by Gord Witteveen and Nicol Thompson, the Sawmill course opened for play in 1976 and has been family-owned and operated ever since. The Julie’s, “are absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Ontario Peewee Championship,” expressed Carrie Julie. “We hosted the Ontario Bantam Championship three years ago and the energy that the players brought, coupled with the support from our members made us jump at the chance to host another Championship. We have a strong junior program and hosting kids’ Championships just fits with who we are at our core. We’ll offer the players an energetic, engaging, and fun atmosphere. Get ready for a warm Sawmill welcome and very enthusiastic volunteers.”
With high summer temperatures, “the last month has been hot and dry, making for firm and fast conditions,” explained Jeremy Julie, Sawmill’s Director of Golf. The hidden gem will require accurate and strategic shots, as the players 12 and undertake on the course in 36-holes of competition. A total of 27 girls’ and 47 boys’ will be competing for the 2021 Ontario Peewee (U13) Boys’ and Girls’ Championship.

2022 World Junior Girls Golf Championship presented by Sargent Farms
will be conducted at Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham, Ont.
MARKHAM, ONT. – With continued logistical challenges and travel restrictions faced by participating National Federations due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, Golf Canada in partnership with Golf Ontario has cancelled the 2021 World Junior Girls Golf Championship, presented by Sargent Farms. The championship was scheduled to take place September 27 to October 2 at Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham, Ont.
Facing the ongoing public health concerns as well as uncertainty around the rising global impact of the pandemic, cancelation was the only responsible course of action as many of the National Federation athletes, coaches and delegates scheduled to participate were facing increased restrictions and protocols in their travel to, and home from, the championship.
The 2022 World Junior Girls Golf Championship, presented by Sargent Farms will be contested at Angus Glen Golf Club at a date to be determined.
The World Junior Girls Golf Championship, presented by Sargent Farms is conducted by Golf Canada in partnership with Golf Ontario and supported by the R&A and the International Golf Federation. Recognized as one of the top events on the Women’s World Amateur Golf Rankings (WWAGR), the 2021 World Junior Girls Golf Championship would have marked the 7th playing of the event.

Windsor, ON – Much like the weather, the competition was hot in today’s final round at the Team Goran Ontario Juvenile (U17) and Bantam (U15) Boys’ and Girls’ Championship, presented by St. Clair College. Four champions were crowned at Roseland Golf and Curling Club, as players battled a tight leaderboard in the race to claim the Juvenile and Bantam titles.
Maintaining the lead through the entire championship, Joline Truong (Trafalgar G&CC) completes the tournament with a seven-under to take home the 2021 Ontario Juvenile (U17) Girls’ Championship title. With low rounds of 68, 71, and 70 for an excellent three-day total of 209, Truong’s name will join the Sandra Post trophy with past winners Alena Sharp, Lindsay Knowlton, Rebecca Lee-Bentham, and Grace St-Germain. Silver medalist, Lindsay McGrath (Rattlesnake Point GC), finished four-under after shooting the girls’ low round of the day with a stellar 66. Carlee Meilleur (Loyalist G&CC) and Emma Hansen (Blue Springs GC) will take home the bronze medal with a tournament total of 219.
Truong came into the week off a strong showing at the Ontario Women’s Amateur Championship, placing twelfth with her lowest round to date. The win “feels great after shooting my lowest at the Amateur with a -2. I shot -4 on the first day and today I played with two really strong competitors, so that pushed me to play my best.” Truong’s next tournament will be the DCM PGA Women’s Championship of Canada at Oshawa Golf and Curling Club from August 29th to 31st.
Holding the lead following round two, the 2021 Ontario Junior Boys’ Spring Classic Champion now has another title to add to his 2021 season. Team Ontario athlete, Owen Kim (Blue Springs GC), secures the 2021 Ontario Juvenile (U17) Boys’ Championship title after a lights-out 65 round and a total of thirteen-under (203). Kim will join the likes of Gary Cowan and Johnny Travale inscribed on the Mike Weir trophy. Taking home the silver medal is Isaiah Ellis (Lookout Point CC), who shot his lowest round of the championship with a 68, to give him a grand total of 209. An abundance of T3 players finished in the bronze medalist position, with a total of 212. The five players winning bronze are Jordan Hwang (Emerald Hills G&CC), Zachary Smith (Brampton GC), Isaiah Ibit (Greyhawk GC), Matthew Javier (Scarboro G&CC), and Luke Smith (The Thornhill Club).
With the lead after round two, Kim said “I started my first three holes a little disappointing. I made a bad bogey first hole and I just wasn’t feeling very confident. I really started to commit to my shots and focus, so the birdies just started coming. Everything just clicked into place.” Kim’s next appearance will be at the Golf Canada Selection Camp, which is scheduled for August 29th through to September 3rd at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley.
For the Ontario Bantam (U15) Girls’ Championship, Lindsay McGrath (Rattlesnake Point GC) is awarded the 2021 title after her best championship round of golf to date. After round two, McGrath found herself in a tie for first with Carlee Meilleur (Loyalist G&CC), who would take home the silver medal seven-strokes behind. Bronze medalist position goes to Alex Ouellet, who held close to the second-place winner just two-strokes back.
McGrath was thrilled with the win, saying “it feels great! I feel I’ve worked very hard for this. I played very well today, shooting my best score ever, so I’m just really happy with how today went.”
Following three playoff holes of sudden death, a 2021 Ontario Bantam (U15) Boys’ Champion emerged. Matthew Javier (Scarboro G&CC) is crowned the Bantam (U15) Boys’ Champion after sinking a birdie putt against Luke Smith (The Thornhill Club). Smith and Jordan Hwang (Emerald Hills G&CC) will share the silver medalist position. Hwang competed in two playoff holes after an out-of-bounds ball on eighteen landed him a double bogey. Javier’s name will be added to the James H. Peacock trophy.
Javier spoke to us about how his playoff between Smith and Hwang went. “I hit a pretty good tee shot on the first hole. Left it short, but it was into the wind. Had a bad chip but made up for it with a nice putt. Then Luke, Jordan, and I pared it to go to the next hole. Unfortunately, Jordan went out-of-bounds and Luke and I both pared to go to our third playoff hole, and I made a nice putt at the end.”

Windsor, ON – With temperatures reaching 32-degrees in round 2 at Roseland Golf and Curling Club, competitors looked to go low before the cut at the Team Goran Ontario Juvenile (U17) and Bantam (U15) Boys’ and Girls’ Championship, presented by St. Clair College.
Holding the girl’s lead in round two with a total of five-under is Joline Truong (Trafalgar G&CC), who has a seven-stroke lead over the second-place competitors. In a four-way tie for second is Carlee Meilleur (Loyalist G&CC), Lindsay McGrath (Rattlesnake Point GC), Alissa Xu (Station Creek GC), and Krystal Li (Summit G&CC), with a total of 146 heading into the final round. In the Bantam (U15) Girls’ field, Meilleur and McGrath hold the lead, two-strokes ahead of T3 players, Alexa Ouellet (Weston G&CC) and Swetha Sathish (Hidden Lake GC).
Taking the lead over on the boys’ side, Juvenile (U17) player Owen Kim (Blue Springs GC), leads after a round of 68. The Team Ontario athlete has a one-stroke lead over Luke Smith (The Thornhill Club), who had the low round of the day with a stellar 65 (-7). Defending champion, Andreas Diogenous (Whistle Bear GC), sits in third just two-strokes off first and fellow Team Ontario teammate Kim. On the Bantam (U15) Boys’ leaderboard, Smith has a two-stroke lead over Matthew Javier (Scarboro G&CC), who shot a clean 70 in today’s round. A two-way between T3 players, Matthew Rastogi (Meadowbrook GC) and Eric Zhao (Bayview G&CC), leaves the players with a total of 142 heading into the final round.
Following the round, there has been a cut to the low 29 plus ties on the boys’ side and low 21 plus ties on the girls’ side. A champion will be crowned for both the girls’ and boys’ Juvenile (U17) and Bantam (U15) champions tomorrow afternoon. Make sure to tune into Instagram as we livestream the eighteenth green with the leader groups. The final round gets underway at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow, with tee times running until 10:20 a.m.. Windsor, ON – The Windsor heat continues to hold strong as round one of the Team Goran Ontario Juvenile (U17) and Bantam (U15) Boys’ and Girls’ Championship, presented by St. Clair College, gets underway at Roseland Golf and Curling Club. With only three rounds of competition, players will have to battle hard to get an early jump on the leaderboard.
Currently holding the lead on the Juvenile (U17) Girls’ leaderboard, with four-under is Joline Truong of Trafalgar Golf and Country Club. Two back in second and the current leader on the Bantam (U15) Girls’ leaderboard, is Celina Yeo (Public Player), with third place holder, Lindsay McGrath (Rattlesnake Point GC), just one-stroke off. With Yeo at the top of the leaderboard for the Bantam’s, McGrath sits in second with Wendy Li (Summit G&CC) in third after shooting a round of 74.
On the Juvenile (U17) Boys’ leaderboard, we have a two-way tie for first between Nolan Laird (Public Public) and Jordan Hwang (Emerald Hills G&CC), following a round of 69. In third two-strokes back is Owen Kim (Blue Springs GC), Isaiah Ibit (Greyhawk GC), and Matthew Whitehead (Whistle Bear GC). Hwang also holds the lead on the Bantam (U15) Boys’ leaderboard, with Matthew Javier (Scarboro G&CC) and Matthew Rastogi (Meadowbrook GC) trailing after rounds of 71 and 72.
