Membership Snapshot

Your Golf Ontario & Golf Canada membership supports many great initiatives and services to golfers and the industry within Ontario.

Grassroots Development

The Mr. Knickers & Friends program introduces golf to over 15,000 kids per year. Future Links offers a full suite of programs for golfers age 6-18, from first timers to those with a high level of experience and playing ability.

High Performance Development

Team Ontario’s Under 19 and Under 17 programs provide Ontario’s best junior golfers access to world class sport science research, training and competition.

Golf Coaching

Golf Coaching is new to the scene, but Golf Ontario is dedicated to working with our industry partners to make it a priority. Golf Ontario hosts the Ontario Coaches Summit each year to enhance the skills/knowledge base of golf coaches in the province. Licensed development centres across Ontario are run by PGA of Canada NCCP trained coaches and are the cornerstone of junior development for golfers between the ages of 6 and 18.

Scholarship Program

With the support of its generous partners Golf Ontario provides annual financial assistance to deserving student golfers throughout Ontario who continue their education at the post-secondary level. Golf Ontario also awards annual scholarships to students enrolled in Golf Management Programs throughout the province.

Course Rating Services

Course Rating teams of volunteers and staff rate over 70 courses each year, based on a rating schedule requiring new ratings to be issued every 8 years, or after significant course changes.

Handicapping

Members of Golf Ontario can post their scores at their club or online to track and maintain an official handicap factor.

Provincial Competitions

Golf Ontario conducts 27 Provincial Championships with over 80 Qualifying events each season. In addition, Golf Ontario Member Day events offer a fun and friendly environment for members to play net events at some great private and public courses.

Volunteering

The volunteer force of Golf Ontario, in excess of 400, is the lifeblood of all the programs and services offered by Golf Ontario. They are a very vibrant group who are rewarded for their commitment through a number of recognition programs annually.

Golfer Recognition Programs

Each year members of Golf Ontario are recognized for their accomplishments through Golf Ontario Hole in One Club, Club Champion Certificate and Pin Recognition programs. The ultimate recognition is induction into the Ontario Golf Hall of Fame which acknowledges extraordinary contributions and accomplishments made by Ontarians to the game of golf.

Member Education

Rules, Handicapping and Course Rating are all important staples of the game of golf. Golf Ontario conducts a number of seminars, clinics and online training modules throughout the year to assist in the education of members and member clubs on these topics and more.

Industry Support & Advocacy

Support of industry issues is an important mandate of Golf Ontario. Each year 50 cents from each adult membership fee collected is donated to Turfgrass Research. Annual involvement in political lobbying and advocacy on behalf of the golf industry is another role Golf Ontario takes pride in executing on behalf of our members.
